In the news today “Modern Pentathlon: Vote goes in favour of replacing show jumping with obstacle racing”. This is a direct result of what happened at the Tokyo Olympics when a horse and rider had such a difficult time together. Suddenly the spotlight of public perception was on the horse world in a way it has never been before. Conversations at every level about our social license to operate abound. How can we find the information we need to enrich these conversations? I believe its by looking to the world of wild horses. I have been involved for many years in studying and working with both domestic horses as well as wild horses. I would like to share with you some of the things I have learnt and to show you how inextricably linked these two worlds really are.
