Forgotten Foalhood

The horse’s early life plays a significant role in how well the horse can adjust to life in the human world, but how many owners, riders, coaches and trainers pay close attention to this? Understanding development from birth, weaning and beyond could have a significant positive impact on the foal’s future behaviour and quality of life. Calm, safe behaviour is essential for the enjoyment of equestrian activities and is in the economic interests of those professionally involved. Successful management includes equipping the foal with a robust musculoskeletal system, healthy selective grazing behaviour, good social skills, and safe behaviour around human handlers all while promoting good quality of life for the young horse. This webinar delves into the research on foal behavioural development and it's application to good practice in the management and training of foals.
