Course curriculum

Working on complicated therapeutic farrier cases, much of Pat’s work involves glue on shoes, hoof reconstruction and collaboration with veterinary surgeons. Much of his career has recognized the need for more evidence-based information relating to farrier practices, and much of the work in his research laboratory is dedicated to developing and using sensor based technologies such as in-shoe force measuring systems, IMU gait sensors and hoof mounted accelerometers. The lab has also produced several patents in glue on shoe technology as well as in supportive materials for the horse’s hoof. This talk will present the latest research appertaining to these measuring systems.
